A comparative study on the rate of growth, yield, and quality assessment of Hevea brasiliensis with allium cepa and selenium in 30ch through deep root medication
Abstract
Background: Hevea brasiliensis (rubber tree) is a major commercial crop valued for its latex yield. Conventional cultivation relies on chemical fertilizers, which pose environmental and economic concerns. Homoeopathic preparations such as Allium cepa 30CH and Selenium 30CH have shown potential as eco-friendly biostimulants in plant growth and stress management. Aim: To compare the effects of Allium cepa 30CH, Selenium 30CH, and other treatments on the growth, yield, and latex quality of Hevea brasiliensis, using deep root medication and foliar spray methods. Methodology:The study was conducted over 6 months in a private rubber plantation in Thiruvarambu, Tamil Nadu. Two sets of Hevea brasiliensis were selected: nursery saplings and mature trees. Each set was divided into five groups (n=6 per group): Group 1: Fertilizer Group 2: Control (no treatment) Group 3: Allium cepa 30CH Group 4: Selenium 30CH Group 5: Placebo (succussed ethyl alcohol) Saplings received foliar spray; mature trees were treated using deep root medication. Parameters like plant height, girth, number of healthy leaves, latex volume, and latex quality (DRC, ammonia, magnesium, and VFA) were recorded. Results: Group 1 (fertilizer) showed the highest growth and yield parameters. Allium cepa 30CH (Group 3) demonstrated significant increase in height and leaf count, closely approaching fertilizer group performance.
