International Journal of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry · 2026 · Vol. 11(4S) · pp. 40–42
Abstract
Blood transfusion is a critical therapeutic procedure in veterinary medicine used to manage life-threatening conditions such as hemorrhage, anemia, and coagulopathies. This review provides a comprehensive overview of indications, donor selection, blood groups, transfusion techniques, blood products, and associated complications. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based clinical practices and careful monitoring to improve patient outcomes. (Fletcher et al., 2012 & Silverstein and Hopper, 2015).
