Effect of structured nutrition education and lifestyle modification on glycaemic status among prediabetic adults

Abstract

Elevated blood glucose levels and a higher chance of type 2 diabetes mellitus are hallmarks of prediabetes, a high-risk metabolic disorder. Dietary control and lifestyle change are regarded as successful preventive measures. The goal of the current experimental investigation was to assess how structured nutrition education and lifestyle changes affected prediabetic persons' glycaemic state. A total of 60 subjects aged 30-55 years were selected and divided into control (n=30) and experimental (n=30) groups. We took baseline measurements of body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, and fasting blood glucose. A 12-week nutrition education program, low-glycaemic dietary recommendations, and physical activity counselling were given to the experimental group. The mean, standard deviation, and paired t-test were used to gather and analyse post-intervention data.
