Effectiveness of some honey bee products against Spodoptera littoralisetranyc (Boisd.) and Tetranychus urticae Koch under laboratory conditions
Abstract
Laboratory experiments were conducted to test efficacy of concentrations of propolis and bee venom, as natural products, on 2nd and 4th instar larvae of S. littoralis, and females of T. urticae. Also, the effectiveness of the insecticide, Spinosad on cotton leafworm larvae and the acaricide, Abamectin on spider mite, using the recommended rates, was evaluated. Results indicated that increasing propolis and bee venom concentrations increased the mortalities of S. littoralis larvae and T. urticae females. Significant differences in mortality rates of both pests were calculated among different concentrations of propolis, bee venom, as well as pesticides, compared to the control.
