The stress: How modern theories mirror ancient homoeopathic wisdom

International Journal of Homoeopathic Sciences · 2026 · Vol. 10(2) · pp. 750–753

Abstract

Stress has become a ubiquitous companion in modern life, significantly impacting both mental and physical health. Interestingly, modern stress theories were anticipated by homoeopathic philosophy over a century ago. This article explores the effect of stress on physical and mental health, including reduced immunity, inflammation and disease. It discusses Hans Selye's stress theory and the General Adaptation Theory, highlighting their alignment with homoeopathic philosophies. Additionally, the article examines the role of stress in chronic diseases, referencing Dr. Hahnemann's Organon of Medicine and Homoeopathic Repertories and Materia Medica. By understanding the impact of stress and developing effective coping strategies by individualized homoeopathic medicine, we can take control of our health and build resilience.
