A case study on personalized homoeopathic management of chronic urticaria

Abstract

Background: Urticaria is a common dermatological condition characterized by transient, pruritic wheals. Chronic urticaria causes significant physical and psychological distress. Homoeopathic individualized management aims at addressing both emotional and physical aspects of the disease. Case summary: A 29-year-old woman presented with chronic urticaria of two months' duration, with itching worse at night and in open air, but relieved by cold applications. She had a strong emotional background marked by irritability, anger from trifles, and indifference toward loved ones. Total IgE levels were significantly elevated, and multiple allergens were detected. Based on totality of symptoms, Sepia was prescribed. Marked improvement was observed within one month, reflected by reduced UAS7 scores. Conclusion: The case demonstrates the potential efficacy of individualized homoeopathic treatment in chronic urticaria. UAS7 proved helpful for monitoring progress and treatment outcomes.
