Correlation analysis of yield and yield attributes in twenty sweet potato genotypes
Abstract
The present experiment was carried out in twenty genotypes of sweet potato for correlation analysis of yield and yield attributes. The genotypes exhibited significant differences for all the traits under study. The result showed that total tuber yield have a significant and positive association at genotypic level with vine length (120 DAS), number of tuber per plant, tuber weight per plant, number of marketable tuber per plant, marketable tuber weight per plant, harvest index, weight of vine per plant. Similarly at phenotypic level significant positive relationship with vine length (120 DAS), mature leaf size, length of tuber, number of tuber per plant, tuber weight per plant, number of marketable tuber per plant, marketable tuber weight per plant, harvest index and weight of vine per plant these characters play a major role in recombination breeding and suggested that direct selection based on these traits will be rewarded for crop improvement of sweet potato.
