A case of hypomelanosis treated with natrum carbonicum

Abstract

Dermatological lesions are one of the most common conditions encountered in a homoeopathic practice. Out of them, hypopigmentation is one of the leading causes for which the general population seeks medical advice from a doctor. Hypopigmented lesions - as the name suggests, these lesions are associated with decreased pigmentation compared to the surrounding normal skin. Hypopigmentation/hypomelanosis is because of decreased melanin production, which can be attributed to various steps involved in melanin synthesis. Most often, these hypopigmented lesions are benign and are rarely associated with systemic diseases and malignancy. This article tells about the role of individualised homoeopathic medicine in the treatment of idiopathic hypomelanosis.
