Heterosis analysis for yield and protein content in field pea (Pisum sati vum L.)
Abstract
In the present investigation 7 parents and 21 F1 hybrids of field pea were evaluated in a randomized complete block design in three replication for heterosis analysis by using diallel fashion for the yield and protein content at instructional farm of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur during the Rabi December 2017 to March 2018. The significance of heterosis lies in improvement of productivity in pulses for future food security through improved crop breeding. heterosis over mid parent and better parent, most of the crosses showed significant positive heterosis for “seed yield per plant, biological yield per plant, 100 seed weight, pod length, swelling index, swelling capacity, dal recovery, number of pods per plant and harvest index (%).”Hybrid combination between Ambika x IGP 2018-1 had desirable vigour for “days to maturity, number of pods per plant, seed yield per plant, biological yield per plant and harvest index.
