Contribution of Social Center Organization in the Watershed Sector of Ahmednagar District

Abstract

The study Focuses on Watershed spctorr in Ahmednagar district Maharashtra is the largest district in terms of geographical area it is known for dryland and drought-prone region. The Ahmednagar district is primarily agriculture-based. Problems such as irregular rainfall, depletion of groundwater, soil erosion, and instability in agricultural production have been prominently observed here for a long time. In this context, the concept district of watershed area development.t implemented by the Social Center has proved to be highly significant for rural development. The Social Center organization in Ahmednagar, a voluntary institution, has been actively working for water conservation, soil conservation, agricultural development, and improvement of rural social life through watershed development programs. This study is an attempt to show that, the contribution of the Social Center is not limited only to increasing water storage, but has also played an important role in building self-reliance, environmental conservation, and social unity in rural society.
