Homoeopathic management of contact dermatitis with sulphur 200C: A case report

Abstract

Contact dermatitis is a common inflammatory skin condition caused by exposure to irritants or allergens and often presents with itching, discharge, and pigmentation changes. This case report describes the homoeopathic management of chronic contact dermatitis in a 46-year-old male who presented with blackish discoloration over the dorsum of both hands for one year, associated with intense itching, watery discharge, and occasional bleeding due to scratching, aggravated at night. Constitutional symptoms included increased thirst, intolerance to milk, hard stools with straining, generalized perspiration, disturbed sleep, and desire for cold climate and fanning. Based on repertorial analysis using the Complete Repertory and confirmation from Materia medica, Sulphur 200C was selected and administered intermittently with placebo. Gradual and sustained improvement was observed, with marked reduction in itching, discharge, and hyperpigmentation, along with improvement in quality of life. This case highlights the potential role of individualized homoeopathic treatment in chronic contact dermatitis.
