A gentle end to an itchy past: Pulsatilla in long-standing psoriasis - An evidence-based case report

Abstract

One of the most common forms of psoriasis is plaque psoriasis, a chronic inflammatory skin disorder marked by scaly, erythematous plaques. Many patients experience recurrent flare-ups despite conventional therapies, highlighting the need for individualized and holistic approaches. A case is presented in this paper with widespread plaque psoriasis of five years’ duration, confirmed clinically. The patient was treated with sequential homoeopathic prescribing Lycopodium based on the initial totality, followed by intercurrent Sulphur, and finally Pulsatilla nigricans selected constitutionally after reevaluating the evolved symptom picture. Within months, the patient showed marked and sustained improvement with near-complete regression of lesions. This report suggests individualized homoeopathic management as a promising complementary therapy in chronic plaque psoriasis. Remedy selection was based on totality assessment and the evolving presentation perceived by the physician.
