Field evaluation of different pest management modules against the incidence of thrips on tomato during summer season

Abstract

Results of summer season trial indicated the superiority of chemi-intensive module by keeping both thrips population and Groundnut Bud Necrosis Virus (GBNV) disease incidence under the check up to 12 weeks after transplantation. The next best module emerged was Integrated Pest Management module (IPM). Whereas, relatively lesser level of reduction in the thrips and disease incidence was recorded with Bio-intensive Module and it was inferior to that of Recommended Package of Practice (RPP). Among the different modules tested, IPM module registered highest yield and B:C ratio as compared to other modules tested. Hence, IPM module can be suggested to farmers for the management of thrips and GBNV disease in tomato.
