Effects of different levels of choline chloride supplementation on the growth performance, digestibility of nutrients and haematological profile of broiler birds

Abstract

The study was conducted to investigate the effect of supplementing different levels of choline chloride on the performance of (Vencobb 400) broilers. Two hundred day old chicks from a single hatch and average body weights (47.62±0.29 g) were allocated randomly into 5 treatment groups (T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5) with 40 birds in each group. Standard broiler pre-starter, starter and finisher rations as per Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS), 2007 was prepared and fed to the T1 (control) group. All the birds were fed iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous with or without choline chloride supplementation. The remaining four groups were fed standard rations incorporated with choline chloride at 250, 500, 750 and 1000 mg per kg of feed for T2, T3, T4 and T5 groups respectively.
