Haemato-biochemical alteration in canine parvovirus infection in dogs

Abstract

To evaluate the effect of canine parvovirus infection on hematological and biochemical parameters in Dogs presenting to the Veterinary Clinical Complex (VCC) with clinical signs suggestive of parvoviral infection—such as anorexia, depression, vomiting, and diarrhoea (both haemorrhagic and malodorous)—were enrolled in the study from October 2022-Mach 2023 at Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Kamdhenu University, Junagadh. Hematological examination in canine parvovirus infected dogs showed decreased Total leucocyte count (TLC) and lymphocyte and significantly increased neutrophils as compared to control group. The total protein and albumin level is significantly decreased in parvovirus infected dogs as compared to control group. After treatment of infected dog with intravenous fluid therapy, anti-emetics and antibiotics hematological and biochemical parameters were improved after recovery.
