Analysis of bioactive compounds in water extract of Nyctanthes arbor- tristis leaves

International Journal of Chemical Studies · 2025 · Vol. 13(6) · pp. 160–162

Abstract

In this study, the aqueous extract of the leaves of Nyctanthes arbor-tristis L. was screened to identify the presence of various bioactive compounds. The leaves of the plant were collected inside the college campus and dried at room temperature before being subjected to aqueous extraction. The resulting extract was then analyzed for the presence of major bioactive compounds using standard chemical tests. The screening results confirmed the presence of several important classes of compounds, including alkaloids, tannins, saponins, glycosides, and phenolic compounds. The extract showed a negative result for flavonoids and steroids.
