A study of water pollution special references with marine water pollution
Abstract
From human work use and human activities a lot of gray and black polluted water produce. It is released outside homes, factories, hotels, animal farms etc. if it’s quantity is low and the population or density of population is low then it dries up there, but when the population is high and it’s quantity is high, it turns into drains and automatically or human effort at that place grows where there is a slope. This place is usually of reservoirs and lakes. In this way human and animal extracts, rotten and wasted food items, water containing soap and detergent solid waste material, pesticides and other chemicals reach the ponds and lakes and polluted the reservoir. Due to Indian lifestyle, poverty etc. many people defecate in the catchment of filling areas of dams and lakes, take bath, use soap to wash clothes, wash vehicles, grace and bath animals. Because of this the lakes become victims of direct pollution. These works increase the organic matter in the lakes, due to which it’s BOD and COD increase. Lakes become victims of eutrophication due to the accumulation of nutrients in excess. Due to human excreta, the coliform count of lakes and ponds increases and the water becomes unusable for drinking and bathing. Mixing of human and animal excreta increases the chances of water born diseases like liver rat, dracunculosis, schistosomiasis, diarrhea, giardiasis etc. some lakes, such as Dal lake in Shri nagar in India and tourists stay in boat houses here. The waste water released from these directly joins the lake and increases the fifth of the lake.
