Effect of nitrogen, sulphur and phosphorus levels on growth and yield of mustard (Brassica campestris L.)

Abstract

The present investigation aimed to find out the “Effect of Nitrogen, Sulphur and Phosphorus Levels on Growth and Yield of Mustard (Brassica campestris L.)” was carried out at Instructional Farm Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, Mewar University Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design. Replicated thrice with 09 treatment combinations, comprising like T1 50 kg N +40 kg P + 30 kg S, T2 50 kg N +50 kg P + 40 kg S, T3 50 kg N+60 kg P + 50 kg S, T4 75 kg N +40 kg P + 30 kg S, T5 75 kg N +50 kg P+ 40 kg S, T6 75 kg N+60 kg P/+ 50 kg S, T7100 kg N+40 kg P + 30 kg S, T8100 kg N +50 kg P + 40 kg S and T9100 kg N +60 kg P + 50 kg S. The application of nitrogen, sulphur and phosphorus levels on productivity was found most effective improve success on growth yield and nutrient uptake of mustard crops. The plant height was found to be maximum (11.56, 44.05 and 149.70 cm) at 30, 60 DAS and at harvest, maximum number of leaves (9.03, 20.36 and 9.23) respectively, were recorded at 30, 60 DAS and at harvest, number of branches was found to be maximum (14.32) at 50 DAS, maximum number of siiqua (160.30) plant-1, maximum number of length of siliqua (7.12 cm) under treatment T9 (100 kg N +60 kg P + 50 kg S. The maximum seed yield (1440 kg/ha), maximum biological yield (5513.017 kg/ha), maximum straw yield (4084.017 kg/ha) under treatment T9 (100 kg N +60 kg P + 50 kg S.The maximum cost of cultivation (₹86400), the maximum net return (₹ 54400 ha-1) and the maximum B: C (1.70) in under treatment T9 (100 kg N +60 kg P + 50 kg S
