Control system for cooling for naturally ventilated greenhouse: Review

Abstract

This review discusses the control systems for cooling in naturally ventilated greenhouses, highlighting the importance of maintaining optimal climatic conditions for crop growth in India. With the increasing need for protected cultivation due to diverse climatic challenges, The manuscript underscores the significance of natural ventilation and thermal regulation systems, including fogging and evaporative cooling mechanisms, in enhancing crop yield and quality. The review summarizes various studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of these cooling methods in regulating temperature, humidity, and vapor pressure deficit (VPD), which are critical for plant health. Additionally, it explores the impact of improper climate conditions on crop production, particularly focusing impact of temperature and humidity on growth and yield. The paper concludes by discussing automated control systems developed for greenhouse management, showing advancements in technology that facilitate precise environmental control, ultimately leading to improved agricultural productivity.
