Effect of crop establishment methods and weed management practices on growth of kharif maize (Zea mays L.)

Abstract

The present investigation entitled “Effect of crop establishment methods and weed management practices on weeds and yield of kharif maize (Zea mays L.)” was conducted during the Kharif season of 2024-25 at Rama University to evaluate the impact of crop establishment methods and weed management practices on weed dynamics, crop performance, and profitability in maize. The experiment, laid out in a split-plot design with three replications, comprised three crop establishment methods (raised bed, ridge and furrow, and conventional flat bed) in main plots, and seven weed management treatments in subplots, including herbicides and integrated approaches. Results indicated that raised bed planting significantly increase crop growth, compared to other methods.
