Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif, 2024 at Agronomy Instructional Farm, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur to access the “Effect of nitrogen application on nutrient content and uptake by Sorghum {Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench}”. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with 10 treatments was replicated three times. The treatments were T1 (100% RDN, 50% basal and 50% at 30 DAS), T2 (50% RDN Basal + 2% urea spray at 35 DAS & floral initiation), T3 (50% RDN Basal + 25% RDN at 30 DAS + 2% urea spray 35 DAS and floral initiation), T4 (50% RDN Basal + 50% RDN at 30 DAS + 2% urea spray 35 DAS and floral initiation), T5 (50% RDN Basal + nano-urea @ 2 ml litre-1 spray at 35 DAS and floral initiation), T6 (50% RDN Basal + 25% RDN at 30 DAS + nano-urea @ 2 ml litre-1 spray at 35 DAS and floral initiation), T7 (50% RDN Basal + 50% RDN at 30 DAS + nano-urea @ 2 ml litre-1 spray at 35 DAS and floral initiation), T8 (50% RDN Basal + nano-urea @ 4 ml litre-1 spray at 35 DAS and floral initiation), T9 (50% RDN Basal + nano-urea @ 4 ml litre-1 spray at 35 DAS and floral initiation) and T10 (50% RDN Basal + 50% RDN at 30 DAS + nano-urea @ 4 ml litre-1 spray at 35 DAS and floral initiation). The experimental results revealed that there is a corresponding increase in nutrient content and uptake by grain and stover of sorghum due to application of 50% RDN Basal + 50% RDN at 30 DAS + nano-urea @ 4 ml litre-1 spray at 35 DAS and floral initiation under treatment T10.
