Abstract
A metatarsal fracture is a break in one of the five long bones (metatarsals) in the foot, connecting the ankle to the toes. These fractures can result from direct trauma, repetitive stress, or overuse. Symptoms include pain, swelling, bruising, and difficulty walking. Treatment typically involves immobilization with a special shoe, boot, or cast, and may include surgery for more severe cases.
