Effect of sulphur and boron nutrients on Available soil nutrients status in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)

Abstract

An experiment entitled “Effect of sulphur and boron on growth, yield and nutrient uptake of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)” was conducted at ICAR- Krishi vigyan Kendra, Kalaburagi during Rabi 2023. The experiment was laid out in RCBD with ten treatments replicated thrice. The experimental results revealed that the treatment T10 - RPP + 30 kg ha-1 Sulphur + 5 kg ha-1 Borax, soil application recorded significantly higher available soil nitrogen (220.15 kg ha-1), available soil phosphorus (35.48 kg ha-1), available soil potassium (307.05 kg ha-1), available soil sulphur (26.13kg ha-1), available boron (1.31 mg kg-1) and DTPA extractable iron, manganese, zinc and copper status of soil (3.31, 4.44, 0.26 and 1.47 mg kg-1 respectively in chickpea. However, it was on par with the treatments T9 - RPP + 30 kg ha-1 Sulphur + 2.5 kg ha-1 Borax, T8 - RPP + 20 kg ha-1 Sulphur + 5 kg ha-1 Borax and T7 - RPP +20kg ha-1 Sulphur + 2.5 kg ha-1 Borax. Significantly lowest available nutrients were recorded in (T1) absolute control.
