Influence of virtual reality: Assisted balance training on postural control in primary-school physical education

Abstract

This study examines the effects of virtual reality (VR)-assisted balance training on postural control among adolescents. Twelve adolescents aged 16 to 18 years from Gwalior city voluntarily participated in an 8-week training program. Participants were randomly assigned to either a VR-assisted balance training group or a conventional balance training group. Pre-and post-intervention assessments were conducted using the Pediatric Balance Scale (PBS) and force platform analysis for postural sway. Results demonstrated that both groups improved postural control, but participants in the VR-assisted group showed significantly greater improvements. The study concludes that VR-assisted balance training is a promising tool for enhancing postural stability among adolescents.
