A study to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge of nursing students about integrated management of neonatal and childhood illnesses (IMNCI) at selected nursing college Dhamangaon, Nasik

Abstract

Backgrounds: IMCI is an integratedapproach that focuses on the health and well-being of the child. IMCI aims toreduce preventable mortality, minimize illness and disability, and promotehealthy growth and development of children under five years of age. Aim: The main aim of study was evaluation ofEffectiveness of Structured Teaching Program on Knowledge of Nursing Studentsabout Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illnesses (IMNCI) AtSelected Nursing College Dhamangaon, Nasik. Methods: Results were representing at mean + standarddeviation (SD). Participant’s demographic details were analyzed. Improvement ofpretest & posttest knowledge was assessed as per paired t- test. The meanpretest knowledge score was improved significantly (p<0.05). The teststatistical value of the paired t test was 22.11with p value0.000. The 45minutes of structured knowledge questionnaire on IMNCI showed significantimprovement in mean knowledge score of IMCI in selected nursing college. Conclusion: The finding of thestudy indicated that the structured knowledge questionnaire was effective inimprove the knowledge level of Nursing students.
