Effect of plant geometry and sulphur on growth and yield of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during Zaid season of 2024 at Crop Research Farm, Department of Agronomy, Naini Agricultural Institute, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences to determine “Effect of Plant Geometry and Sulphur on Growth and Yield of Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.)”. The results revealed that the significantly taller plant height (41.12 cm), maximum number of nodules/plant (47.73),higher plant dry weight (31.46 g), maximum number of pods/plant (34.73), maximum number of kernels/pod (2.87), higher seed index (39.81g), higher kernel yield (2.37 t/ha), higher pod yield (3.18 t/ha), higher halum yield (4.35 t/ha), higher harvest index (35.33%), maximum gross return (1,69,457.10 INR/ha), net return (1,08,118.10 INR/ha) and B:C ratio (1.76) were recorded with treatment 8 [45 cm×10 cm + sulphur (50 kg/ha)], was found to be productive as well as economically feasible.
