Shaping sustainability attitude: The role of environmental education among students
Abstract
This research paper investigates the critical role that environmental education (EE) plays in shaping students' sustainability attitudes in the context of escalating global environmental challenges. Grounded in both theoretical analysis and empirical investigation, this study explores how EE fosters environmental awareness, promotes pro-environmental behavior, and cultivates ecological responsibility among students. The study uses a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews across multiple universities. The findings highlight the transformative power of EE in instilling sustainable values and practices, contributing to climate justice and long-term resilience. The paper further integrates insights from Kumar (2025a, 2025b, 2025c) and global environmental frameworks to present a multidimensional view of education for sustainability.
