Evaluation of Anti-microbial activity of Ethanolic leaf extract of Acalypha indica Linn

Abstract

The present study was evaluate the anti microbial activity of ethanolic leaf extract of the medicinal plant Acalypha indica using the well diffusion method against five bacterial species viz., Staphylococcus aureus, Micrococcus luteus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia, and five fungal species viz., Candida albicans, Fusarium spp, Aspergillus niger, Candida tropicalis and Candida kefyr. Herbal medicine represents one of the most important fields of traditional medicine all over the world. Acalypha indica plants could serve as useful source of new anti microbial agents.
