A case of allergic rhinitis treated with individualised homoeopathic medicine: An evidence based case report

Abstract

Allergic rhinitis is a inflammatory condition of the nasal mucosa and it has been triggered by exposure to allergen, which will lead to symptoms like sneezing, nasal discharge, congestion, and itching. As this case report demonstrate the role of individualized homoeopathic treatment in managing allergic rhinitis. A 52 years old male patient presented with the complaints of cold, cough with white expectoration, continuous sneezing, and dyspnoea on exertion. Symptoms were aggravated by exposure to cold, dust, and certain foods. Clinical evaluation and laboratory findings, including an elevated absolute eosinophil count (530 cells/µl), confirmed the diagnosis of allergic rhinitis. After detailed case taking and repertorization using the Synthesis Repertory, Arsenicum album was prescribed in increasing potencies. Result: The patient showed gradual and sustained improvement over several follow-ups. Sneezing, cough, and generalised weakness significantly reduced, and the eosinophil count decreased to 400 cells/µl. This case highlights the importance of individualized remedy selection based on holistic case analysis. It suggests that homoeopathic management, with patient’s symptom totality, can offer effective relief in allergic rhinitis.
