Effect of nano DAP on growth, yield attributes and yield of chickpea (Cicer kabulium)

Abstract

Background: Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.), a major rabi pulse crop of India, due to the improvement of enhanced chickpea cultivars resulted in increased production leading to depletion of Nitrogen and Phosphorus nutrients, which inturn increase its fertilizer consumption especially phosphorus. Increasing chickpea production per unit area through codified use of fertilizers is an important strategy and it is highly desirable to explore the possibilities of saving phosphatic fertilizers without sacrificing economic yields. In order to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers, nano and bio phosphatic fertilizers could play a crucial role by increasing the availability of phosphorus and other nutrients to the crops. Methods: The present study was conducted during rabi season during 2023-2024 at the Agricultural College Farm, Bapatla. The experiment was laid out in Randomised Block Design with 11 treatments and three replications. The treatment details include different doses of conventional DAP along with nano DAP. Result: Plant height, drymatter accumulation, number of branches per plant, number of pods per plant, number of seeds of pod, seed yield and haulm yield were recorded highest in 100% P +Seed treatment with Nano-DAP @5 ml per kg seed+ Nano-DAP spray @2.5 ml L-1 before flowering (T9) which shows parity with 75% P +Seed treatment with nano-DAP @ 5 ml per kg seed+ Nano-DAP spray @ 2.5 ml L-1 before flowering (T10).
