Case report: Single stage free flap reconstruction for spindle cell sarcoma of right calf: An efficacious modality

Abstract

Spindle cell sarcoma is a type of connective tissue malignancy arising from bone or soft tissues. It generally begins in layers of connective tissues - under the skin, between muscles and surrounding organs. It usually starts as a small inflamed lump which grows in size. It can arise in any part of the body but is most common in the extremities. Most cases have unknown cause or have sporadic occurrence, May be associated with certain risk factors like:-Lifraumani syndrome, tuberous sclerosis, FAP, Chemical exposure, Radiation exposure. Here we present a case of spindle cell sarcoma in a 37 year old lady with single stage flap reconstruction surgery.
