Degloving injury presents as Morel Lavallee Lesion: A Case report

Abstract

The Morel-Lavallée lesion is a closed degloving injury that primarily affects the soft tissues of the extremities, commonly resulting from high-energy blunt trauma. The thigh, hip, and pelvic region are particularly vulnerable to this condition. First described by Victor Auguste Morel-Lavallée in 1863, this lesion remains relatively underreported in medical literature. Recognizing its distinct features is crucial, especially in trauma patients, to facilitate early diagnosis and timely management. This report presents a case of Morel-Lavallée lesion, highlighting its clinical presentation, the role of imaging in diagnosis, and the various surgical approaches available for effective treatment.
