Understanding Kuttaka (Pulverizer) method by Bhaskara II with the help of Microsoft excel

Abstract

This article studies the Kuttaka (Pulverizer) method, a traditional Indian mathematical technique for solving the linear Diophantine equations. Authored by Bhaskara II, the method presents a systematic methodology to finding the integer solutions for equations of the form ax + by = c. The paper searches into the historical significance of the Kuttaka method and presents a step-by-step explanation of its application. Highlighting the method's iterative nature, the article highlights its ability to break down complex equations into simpler ones. To bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and modern tools, the article introduces a Microsoft Excels implementation of the Kuttaka method. This integration demonstrates the method's continued relevance in the today’s world.
