Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Pahanda-A, Durg (C.G.) during the rabi seasons of 2022-23 and 2023-24. The study evaluated the effects of ten weed management treatments viz., pendimethalin (38.7 CS) 1.0 kg ha-1 (PE), oxyfluorfen (23.5 EC) 0.25 kg ha-1 (PE). pretilachlor (50 EC) 1.5 kg ha-1 (PE), pendimethalin (38.7 CS) 1.0 kg ha-1 (PE) fb quizalofop ethyl (10 EC) 0.04 kg ha-1 (PoE) at 30 DAS, oxyfluorfen (23.5 EC) 0.25 kg ha-1 (PE) fb quizalofop ethyl (10 EC) 0.04 kg ha-1 (PoE) at 30 DAS, pretilachlor (50 EC) 1.5 kg ha-1 (PE) fb quizalofop ethyl (10 EC) 0.04 kg ha-1 (PoE) at 30 DAS, mechanical weeding in inter row + hand weeding intra row at 30 DAS, rice straw mulching 5 t ha- 1between rows at sowing time, two hand weedings at 30 and 50 DAS and unweeded check were considered under study. The experimental design was a randomized block design and treatments were replicated thrice. The results indicated the highest plant height, compound leaves, primary and secondary branches, dry matter accumulation plant-1, seed yield (18.22 q ha-1) and stover yield ( 33.75 q ha-1) were recorded in two hand weedings at 30 and 50 DAS (W9) and minimum in unweeded check (W10). However, recorded values of all growth parameters under two hand weedings at 30 and 50 DAS (W9) was significantly at par with pendimethalin (38.7 CS) 1.0 kg ha-1 (PE) fb quizalofop ethyl (10 EC) 0.04 kg ha-1 (PoE) at 30 DAS (W4). The highest gross returns (₹ 200720 ha-1 and ₹ 198290 ha-1) was obtained under two hand weedings at 30 and 50 DAS (W9) followed by pendimethalin (38.7 CS) 1.0 kg ha-1 (PE) fb quizalofop ethyl (10 EC) 0.04 kg ha-1 (PoE) at 30 DAS, respectively. In contrast, the highest net return (₹ 134767 ha-1 and ₹ 130257 ha-1)were obtained under pendimethalin (38.7 CS) 1.0 kg ha-1 (PE) fb quizalofop ethyl (10 EC) 0.04 kg ha-1 (PoE) at 30 DAS (W4)followed by two hand weedings at 30 and 50 DAS (W9). In respect of benefit cost ratio, treatment pendimethalin (38.7 CS) 1.0 kg ha-1 (PE) fb quizalofop ethyl (10 EC) 0.04 kg ha-1 (PoE) at 30 DAS (W4) recorded the highest value (3.13) and stood in first position under study. Treatment pretilachlor (50 EC) 1.5 kg ha-1 (PE) fb quizalofop ethyl (10 EC) 0.04 kg ha-1 (PoE) at 30 DAS (W6) and pendimethalin (38.7 CS) 1.0 kg ha-1 (PE) (W1) ranked in second and third place, respectively on remunerative point of view.
