Life table studies on okra shoot and fruit borer (Earias vittella Fabricius) under laboratory condition at Raipur, Chhattisgarh

International Journal of Advanced Biochemistry Research · 2024 · Vol. 8(12S) · pp. 568–572

Abstract

Results on age specific life table of Earias vittella Fabricius on okra revealed life cycle of 35-40 days with highest and lowest larval mortality percent in age interval of 6-10 days (21.43%) and 21-25 days (3.92%) due to fungal development and unknown reasons, respectively. The highest and lowest expectation of life (ex) was recorded in 0-5 and 36-40 days age interval of 8.96 and 1.00 days respectively. In stage specific life table, maximum mortality (20.0%) was observed during 1st instar larval stage due to development of fungus, Aspergillus fumigates and minimum during 5th instar (1.89%) due to unknown reasons. However, the sum of K values (0.34) indicated no increase in population in the next generation.
