Effect of seed priming on seed quality of resultant seed in Kabuli chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) varieties

Abstract

A laboratory experiment was carried out at Seed Quality and Research Laboratory, Seed Unit (National Seed Project), University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad during rabi of 2016-17 and 2017-18 to study the effect of seed priming on seed quality parameters of resultant seed in kabuli chickpea varieties. Seed quality parameters were significantly influenced among varieties and priming treatments. BG1105 (V1) recorded significantly higher seed quality parameters as compared to MNK-1 (V2), While seed priming with Sprint (Mancozeb 50% + Carbendazim 25% WS) @ 2 g per kg of seed (T9) recorded significantly higher seed quality parameters as compared to other treatments and control (T1) during 2016-17 and 2017-18 and pooled data. Therefore, seed priming with sprint (Mancozeb 50% + Carbendazim 25% WS) @ 2 g per kg of seed (T9) can be used in order to enhance the seed quality of kabuli chickpea varieties.
