Evaluation of excess surface tension of some simple equimolar binary mixtures at various temperatures and pressures

Abstract

Surface tension deduced from the surface composition using Gibb’s adsorption equation has been utilized to calculate excess surface tension of some equimolar binary mixtures of reasonably spherical and non-polar molecules at various temperatures and pressures. The values of excess surface tension thus obtained, are compared against the values obtained from Guggenheim relation. The patterns of excess surface tensions, obtained from both methods, seem to be similar and fairly good agreements are also obtained in most of the systems under investigation.
